  I used to think of this photo every time I walked up West Street on the way to work, and would wonder what the rear of no. 7 looked like these days ... State Library of NSW version - www.flickr.com/photos/statelibraryofnsw/5763155265/

  pellethepoet Hmm - something about this West Street doesn't add up. They knocked down these houses to replace them with smaller terraces which look older than 1900 ?? See also the houses on the other side of the street - much further away than they would be if this was the Paddington West St. My instincts suggest that there was a different West Street off Oxford Street near Wexford Street, Surry Hills end. Or not?

  beachcomber australia Before the hospital, West Street originally extended all the way to the Liverpool / Womerah Street intersection, and the numbering appears to have started at that end, not Oxford. I think this accounts for the present day confusion - acms.sl.nsw.gov.au/_zoomify/2008/D00663/a1367501.html This was the other end of West Street. No. 7 could have been not far from this corner store -

  I was a Pilot for Golden West from 1978 - 1983 when they went out of business. I was one of the last of the hold out Pilots, hoping someone would either invest in the company or take it over. It was such a great airline to work for, and I was very sorry when they went out of business
