    What really IS unusual is that the base of the rocking horse is not ''complete''..normally the base of this type of rocking horse, {Marqua stand or Swing stand} has a cruciform shape, with cross pieces to give stability. I wonder if the horse was moved from it's usual place for the photograph, and there looks like a bolt is visible at the ends of the stand for it to be firmly bolted down while the ship was in motion. This would mean cross pieces were not needed{?}
