    Hi Greg, the barge in this photograph was the Lord Mayors barge. "The protection of the river was demonstrated each year on Barge Day when the Mayor, in his capacity as President of the Court of Admiralty, inspected riverside staithes etc..This system survived until 1974 when the office of Alderman was abolished."     The street along the right side of the frame is Arlington Avenue. This is looking due east. The street parallel to Arlington at left is Cypress Avenue. Some notes were added if you put the cursor over the photo and click on the rectangles.
