Google Streetview showing its current state. Despite its name, it's actually a former amphitheatre.

View of Gamleby, Småland, Sweden

My hawks eyes (ha, ha) spot a Volkswagen Beetle parked near that long white building slightly below the center of the photo. First one sold in Sweden was January, 1949. I see a gas station, right side of the photo, just above the rocks. Can you tell by the sign what brand of fuel it sells? By the way, this must have be3n taken on a very quiet, lazy Sunday morning - there are hardly any people or vehicles to be seen.

Martin van Duijn Then we know, thanks to your sharp eyes :) that the photo date is not older than 1949! And I'm sorry, but the negative of the postcard photo is not in a high enough resolution to read the sign much closer. Hopefully, someone from Gamleby could tell... Besides, a small Swedish town or even a suburb of Stockholm, can be quite empty in a Saturday or Sunday before noon, even today. :) /Anna B.

This type of license plate- like we see on the bus - was used from 1924 onwards in Sweden.
