The Sunday Morning Star - Sep 19, 1920 news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2293&dat=19200919&... reports that Thomas D. "Cyclone" Smith, a Republican of Hiawatha, Kansas, has a charming wife. Lawrence Journal-World - Feb 17, 1925 news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2199&dat=19250217&... reports his death and states "Stumped the East for Republican National Ticket in 1916 Campaign." Neither article gives a fuller name for his wife.

But a biography at skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1918ks/bios/smithtd.html names his wife as the former Miss Dola M. Elliott.

His wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boies_Penrose

puzzlemaster and B-59: Thanks for providing us with additional information on Penrose. We will include some of it in our next update.

Given the likelihood that this is part of the large group of 1916 Republican National Convention photos, this Political Graveyard entry fits this fellow: " Smith, T. D. — of Hiawatha, Brown County, Kan. Republican. Delegate to Republican National Convention from Kansas, 1916. " politicalgraveyard.com/bio/smith8.html Looks like the guy in this photo: skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1918ks/images2/smithtd.gif A biographical sketch from 1918: skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1918ks/bios/smithtd.html
