There had been an earlier 1st Hussars regiment in the King's German Legion of the British Army during the Napoleonic War, but I haven't found a 1st Hussars. Perhaps the postcard caption has a typo.

Curious, why is one of the officer's saluting with his left hand? His right hand is not missing. I guess they could be horsing around or his right arm is paralyzed.
