  I think the "big event" was not just the premiere of 'The Patriot' but the opening of the wonderful State Theatre in Market Street, Friday 7 June 1929 (not 1928). See newspaper report - SMH 8/6/1929 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/16567130 Which makes the image much more interesting and historic.
