This is printed backwards, the boats on the ride travelled clockwise. It is Murphy's Sea on Land which was converted to this appearance in 1894.

Perhaps this young chap went off to the States to make his fortune, and sent a photo home?? That's not to say that he couldn't be a stay at home fashion plate, but there's just something about this photo...

Came across the name Piper reading The Story of the Wellington Foundry Lincoln. A William Piper purchased a Showman's steam engine built 1912. Also see link for Fredrick Piper www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Cork/Mallow/Wil... .Prehaps its a publicity shot.
