I am sure that was a delicious meal, after a backbreaking morning... growing up in Puerto Rico, I had the previleged to enjoy raw sugar cane, this image is nostalgic in a way. Thank you.

i think that is probably the remnants of rice and beans rather than papaya. Rice and beans has historically been *the* staple dish in PR homes and the beans in PR are cooked with either pumpkin and/or potato and that's what it seems to be there in the container on the right.
