Shantipur Leprosy Hospital India

  • Carol Dietzel said:
My father (AJ Dietzel) was Superintendent of Shantipur Hospital and member of British Mission to Lepers 1948-1953. Dietzel and 5 boys pose for the camera in 1952. Boys pictured would NOT have been leprous, but would’ve been healthy children of patients. In 1950, Dietzel started school and hostel for the children; in addition to adding spinning and weaving to vocational training for patients, and rice fields. (In 1921, British bought 120 acres, built buildings for Shantipur Leper Home, and staffed it via USA Board of Missions.)

Laying on hands 1969 Bihar Mennonite Conference India

  • Mennonite Church USA Archives said:
Caption: Bihar Mennonite Church is moving ahead with "Indianization." Nine men were ordained during the March annual conference. "What four brothers say" is an idiom in Hindi signifying consensus of the whole group. Thus laying on of hands by four brethren meant that the whole church was given the charge.
