Funeral of C. Gates (LOC)

Another photo of the Charles G. Gates funeral: Hours before his death, bidding farewell to Buffalo Bill Cody, after a hunting trip in Cody, Wyoming: Charles G. Gates photo, with comments about him: Gates died on October 28, 1913, of a heart attack, in Cody, Wyoming, where he had been hunting elk with friends, not long after Prince Albert I of Monaco hunted there with Buffalo Bill Cody himself.

Gaynor pall bearers, Taft, Adamson, Waldo (LOC)

I don't know which Taft that is, but he doesn't look like President Taft.
  • Lucy B said:
Photo is from September 1913 based on information about Gaynor's death.
  • B-59 said:
The funeral took place on September 22, 1913, and Ex-president Taft was among the pallbearers, see photo in the New-York tribune., September 23, 1913, Page 2. See also
    Taft at Gaynor funeral (LOC)

But this photo doesn't show Ex-pres. W. H. Taft (nor his brother Charles Phelps Taft, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Phelps_Taft).

And the man with mustache and glasses isn't Robert Adamson, another pallbearer. A photo of R. Adamson is here:
    Robert Adamson (LOC)

    Rhinelander Waldo: R. Waldo (LOC)
Could be the man tagged "Taft"

Thanks for your research B-59. We'll see what we can find about the identity of the pallbearers in this photo, and add them to the record the next time we update.

Removing Conried's body from Metropolitan Opera House (LOC)

The name of the director of the Metropolitan Opera ist Heinrich Conried, not "Conreid" as written in the title and the description of the foto. As Conried died on 27 Apr 1909, the foto can be dated correctly with 1909. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Conried

..and there's a 1909 date in the margin.
