George H. Kendall was the president of the New York Bank Note Company, which amongst other things, printed stock certificates. That matter was the root of a long running dispute with the NYSE. From the New York Times of March 10, 1913 : "The fight between the exchange and Mr. Kendall is an old one. He said at the hearing it had been going on for thirty-four years. He has sued the exchange and its members and the case is pending in the United States District Court. From time to time he has exhibited on his building inlower sixth avenue enormous painted signs denouncing the "thieves of the New York Stock Exchange." Some of the signs are in place at the present time.
