    Comment from reader T. Edmonds: The soldier was Cpl Herbert Thomas Bolt (55th Infantry Battalion) who gave his occupation as brickmaking. Address on enlistment in September 1915 was Bexley, later changed to Newtown. Killed in action, 20 July 1916, Fromelles. The carnival occurred was on 23 September 1916. Bolt’s railway career was: Oct 1908 – Wool checker – Darling Harbour Mar 1909 – Dispensed with May 1914 – Cleaner – Trams Sep 1914 – Labourer – Trams Oct 1914 – Resigned Nov 1914 – Labourer – Trams Jan 1915 – Dispensed with
