Some of the above attribution is incorrect: The landscape architect was Jacques Greber; Horace Trumbauer was the architect of the mansion itself. The construction of the house and gardens was started by George and Eleanor Widener; George perished in the sinking of the Titanic, and Mrs. Widener (who was rescued) completed the project, later remarrying Dr. Alexander Hamilton Rice - hence the two "creator" names above.
