Kilted Cowboy: Thank you for the additional information about Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich. We will include some of it in the description when we update.

This photo is incorrectly identified. The names are reversed. This is GD Alexander Mikhailovich. He was 1st cousin once removed and brother-in-law of Tsar Nicholas II: the husband of Nicholas' sister GDss Xenia Alexandrova. He was also the author of 'Once a Grand Duke', 'Always a Grand Duke', and another book whose name escapes me.

hisimperial majesty: Thank you for providing us with the correct information here. We'll fix our description next time we update.

This is Sandro, not Michael, and the label has still not been corrected.

one of many Grand Dukes of Russia, later killed by the Bolsheviks en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Duke_George_Mikhailovich_of_R...

"Mik..." , not "Muk..."

This is the Grand Duchess Feodora of Saxony. In 1913 the famous German breeder of roses, Hermann Kiese of Wieselbach (who also edited a rose breeder's magazine), named a new tea rose in her honor, the "Grossherzogin Feodora von Sachsen." Apparently, he named another rose for the Grand Duke, but not until 1915.

Thanks Wystan for identifying Feodora. Interesting how the names got overlaid on the negative. We'll add her name to the caption next time we update the record.
