The house nearest the sea is called Billow Ville, and dates from 1820, according to the NIAH. It is on the 1840 6" map at GeoHive. Still there today in Streetview.

It turns out that the winner of all that dosh may not be in Clare after all. The shop that sold the winning ticket is on the Tipperary/Clare border and the West Clare Railway didn't go there, slowly or otherwise! Anyway good luck to whoever won it!

If the photo really was taken in September 1956 (a fine month by the way), the poster for the Dublin Horse Show is out of date should be taken down, as the event opened on Tuesday August 7 and continued up to and including Saturday August 11.
