She had been married twice before, to Samuel Steven Sands and Lewis Morris Rutherfurd, Jr.

Mrs. Bacon was chairman of the American Ambulance Committee, which had charge of the Tea Garden at the International Flower Show in New York on April 6, 1916. Mrs. Vanderbilt was a member of the committee. The hallway background is the same as in some other Bain photos from the Flower Show that year.

BEACH ATTACKED WIFE; Intent to Kill Charged at Aiken, S.C., in Warrant for Wealthy New Yorker." query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9D00E6D6143CE633A... Fodder for a soap opera. NYT of Feb 13, 1913 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B0DE7DC133BE633A... indicates that he was found not guilty.
