big, husky dude...the actor?

Looks like an actor, and the dates aren't impossible (the actor's dates are 1884-1944). There was also an Edward Joseph McNamara who wrote The Methods Of Teaching Shorthand: A Practical Treatise On The Solutions Of Classroom Problems (1914).

He doesn't look like a shorthand teacher... ; )

Edward McNamara (1884-1944) . I recognize him 31 years later from Arsenic and Old Lace playing Sgt. Brophy. This was his last film, he died the same year. He has a distinctive nose. This is one of my favorite movies of the black and white era. His Hollywood career started in 1929 and his Broadway career started in 1926, so why would he be in the news in 1913. His middle initial is sometimes a "C' and sometimes an "J". His obit says he was a singing policeman and that got him his first Broadway gigs. "Edward McNamara, well-known stage and screen player who sung himself off the Paterson, N.J., police force on to Broadway, died at 8:15 o'clock last night in South Station. " He listed himself as a singer in the 1917 draft for World War I. So he was a singer before being a policeman. He also lists himself as "Edward James McNamara ". Of the six it is considered more than possible that two or perhaps three will find themselves on the jury as it is sworn in.
