beachcomber australia From your earlier comment: "The wreck happened on 06/05/1898. Report in the SMH 07/05/1898 p.9 - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/14132900 . The ship was stuck there for months." Randwick City Council also have a page on their website about HEREWARD and how long it remained on the beach: bit.ly/Orrp7T A long time!

I saw a short report on Channel 9 NBN News on Tuesday 27/3/13 about retrieving the cannon, but I can't find anything recent on the entire interweb about it. Googled using various combinations of "hereward cannon wreck maroubra " ?? A dive video in 2011 - vimeo.com/25710306
