The Kalang and Koondooloo were made obsolete as car ferries, following the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, and eventually converted to Harbour Showboats, immediately popular with the public , Kalang later renamed the 'Sydney Queen'. For their chequered history and sad demise, see: www.ferriesofsydney.com/kalang.html
