Titanic launched and sank in 1912. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet this photo was taken April 15, 1912.

how would you get a list of the crew on board when it sank? I have just found out my grandfather was on this vessel when it went down.

A quick newspaper search - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=ss+douglas+mawson+cre... - produced this very politically incorrect article which has a list of the crew at the end (into the next column) - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/187196549 Here they are - George F. Tune (master) Richard Shewring (mate) Robert D. Thompson (engineer) John Fraser (donkeyman) John Tully and Hector V. Little (firemen drivers) Robert Nixon (cook and steward) James Laird, Archie McNeill, Christian Neilsen, William Rowe, and William Nugent (able seamen) Maurice Giese (ordinary seaman) There were also on board as passengers Mr. and Mrs. Wlllett and their five children, who joined the ship at Normanton.
