Queensland was originally divided into administrative areas to create a unique identifier for each property. The initial administrative areas included pastoral districts, counties, parishes and land agent's districts. Status of counties Each county was usually 40 miles square in size. Some were unworkably large and were subdivided in 1900, increasing the total number from 109 to 319. Knowing a county name can be important as the same parish names can be found in different counties (e.g. there is a Parish of Inglewood in the Counties of Bentinck, Clive and Marsh). The town was named on 5 January 1970.[2] On 10 December 1988 the suburb of Clinton was created from the merger of the former suburbs Clinton North and Clinton South. The name Clinton is derived from the County of Clinton (the cadastral administrative division containing Gladstone). Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton,_Queensland

I'm all innocent - what was frequenting? Is it another name for prostitution?
  • Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums said:
Hi Paul, the term frequenting seems to mean that the offender was caught in circumstances which led the police to suspect that a crime was about to be committed. I've added some more detail above, which should help to clarify things. There's also another example of frequenting here www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/17284160436/in/album-72157....

Ah gotcha! Like 'casing a joint' as I'd say here. Watching, observing times and seeing what can be taken. I guess they had enough evidence at the time to arrest them.

It's the very person who inspired me with my photography :) Although I kinda messed on with photography in my teens, it wasn't until I was in my mid-20s that I discovered Jimmys work and what he had singlehandedly achieved against all those odds. It taught me that it doesn't matter what age, sex or social standing you are that you can do so much. Once I'd finally mastered the basics (I wouldn't listen to anyone when a teenager!) I literally took off with my hobby. I've far more to show than what I dump onto Flickr now and then. One day it will be shown.. Jimmy was well known and well loved by so many in the North East. There were others too but this man opened my world.
