Vickers Works by Barrow -- Assembled big guns (LOC)

  Vickers has had a history of mergers and name changes but still exists on this site in Barrow. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_Shipbuilding_and_Engineering

  These guns were for HMS Shannon (1908), a Minotaur Class armored cruiser. The wikipedia entry, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Shannon_(1906) mentions that the ship received some new guns in 1915-16 (" The ship received a QF 12-pounder (3-inch) 12 cwt anti-aircraft (AA) gun and a QF 3-pounder (47 mm (1.9 in)) AA gun in 1915–16. The 12-pounder gun was mounted on the aft superstructure and the 3-pounder on the quarterdeck at the extreme rear. ") , so it's probable these guns are from the 1915-16 refit.
  Wikipedia's entry on on the QF 12 Pounder gun uses a detail from this photo (the man standing behind the gun at center) with the caption "Ordnance QF 12 pounder 18 cwt On roof of BL 7.5 inch gun turret for HMS Shannon under construction at the Vickers works, Barrow"
