These photos are probably the coffin being taken into and out of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The pallbearers were Pasquale Amato, Giuseppe de Luca, Leon Rothier, Antonio Scotti, Francesco Romei, Giulio Setti, Gennaro Papi, Fernando Carpi, Giulio Crimi, F.C. Coppicus, G. Viafora, and Dr. H.H Curtis.

These were mostly fellow Italian opera singers of the day, many pictured elsewhere in the Bain photos.

Gatti-Casazza & A. Seligsberg (LOC)

Looks like part of the set taken at tenor Luca Botta's funeral on Oct. 3, 1917. Giulio Gatti-Casazza ( 1869 – 1940) was general manager of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City (1908-1935).

    See Gatti - Casazza (LOC)

Alfred Frederick Seligsberg (1869-1933) was legal counsel to the Met. Picasso drew him, with Diaghilev, in 1917:

from his Times obituary in 1933:
    A. SELIGSBERG DIES; LAWYER FOR OPERA; Represented the Metropolitan and R. H. Macy & Co. for Many Years. WAS CARUSO'S COUNSEL Widely Known Figure in Musical Life of City Succumbs In His Sleep at Age of 63.
