We see the inner harbour of the fishing village of Svolvær. The bay on the left is called Pollen. Lofoten was and still is dependent on the large amount of cod in this area. The boat houses are called "rorbuer", and can house seasonal fishermen and their boats when they come in winter from elsewhere in Norway to participate in the fisheries. A good view of current Svolvær, but from the opposite angle, can be found here:

This picture is probably from 1896 or so. At this time mass-tourism had started. Digermulen is considered the birt-place of tourism in Northern-Norway.

Disse bildene har jeg holdt i hånda! Mulig jeg tar feil, men mener å huske de ble 'funnet' i skapet i Billedsamlingen etter å ha ligget der urørt lenge. Jeg jobbet der 2001-4. Fint at dere har sortert dem i Set etter fylke. :) Prosessen er også interessant!
