Strange... because this ship is not La France. La France was a four funnels liner in service between 1912 and 1935 and she was bigger. This liner seems to be La Provence or la Savoie or la Lorraine (sister ships) in service between 1900 and 1922. I don't know why the negative mentionned La France....

The "France" is on this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/5963832939/ I think the name of this ship is "MAJESTIC", slightly visible after some photoshopping on the high resolution image, see www.flickr.com/photos/66311327@N05/14583478701/ If so, it's this ship: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Majestic_%281890%29 The photo could fit IMO. On 17 October 1913, the Majestic came to the rescue of the French schooner Garonne, which had wrecked. The Majestic and a tug boat are mentioned in an article in The Evening herald. (Klamath Falls, Or.) 1906-1942, December 04, 1913, Image 4, col. 3, oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn99063812/1913-12-04/ed-1/se..., "MRS. PANKHURST GETS HOME - JAILED".
