According to the New York Times article of Thursday September 19, 1912, Sir George Reid arrived in New York the previous day. (ref. query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9C06E5D6123CE633A... According to ellis Island records he also arrived on Caronia from Liverpool on May 04, 1913. He is also known to have visited the USA in November 1917 for a speaking tour, during which he contracted pneumonia and had to cancel much of the engagements. (ref. about 1917 speaking tour: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9901E4DB163AE532A... ) According to Ellis Island records he arrived on New York, from Liverpool on October 22, 1917. Lady Reid was later to become Dame Flora Reid in her own right: "During the First World War his wife Flora Reid worked to provide services to the Australian troops. For this she was made a Dame Grand Cross of the British Empire in 1917 and was among the first to receive the award."
