Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Beautiful Vintage Memory, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

    Tree grandmother?

*brambly*, the meaning is more like 'Nani who gathers the wood'. Nani would have been her name, (possibly a diminutive of Nansi or similar), rather than a word for grandmother. The Welsh for grandmother is Mam-gu (south) or Nain (north). What a great photo, full of character.

I love this whole series of portraits of women. There's a thread of steel running through all of them. And, yes, I do know "Nain" is grandmother, now I come to think of it
