NYT of May 6, 1916 select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F00E13F93D5F1373... "Miss Katherine Stinson of San Antonio, Texas, and Dario Resta of London will meet in the first heat of the aeroplane versus automobile race, known as the "earth and air match," at the Sheepshead Bay Speedway this afternoon." Miss Stinson is the pilot. Resta is driving the car.

The signboard in Katherine's hands reads: 國民飛行會 (Kokumin Hikou-Kai). It can be translated as something like "National Flight Association”. I did some web search and found Nagaoka was the president of the association. Also found that the association published a book features her in 1916 titled: 「女流飛行界の現状とカザリン・ステインソン嬢」("Current State of Female Aviator World and Miss Katherine Stinson”). It can be read here at National Diet Library Digital Collections: dl.ndl.go.jp/info:ndljp/pid/916990 (Written in Japanese)
