Aviatrix Katherine Stinson in front of her Curtiss-Stinson Special (aka "Curtiss Special"), a single-seat variant of the Curtiss JN-4, powered by a Curtiss OXX-6 150 HP V-8 engine. Stinson flew the aircraft to raise funds for the Red Cross. On July 9, 1918, Stinson would carry a mailbag aboard this aircraft "containing 259 letters from Calgary to Edmonton in western Canada’s first air mail delivery."
