Back in those days ice cream was big treat. Not kids got enjoy such a pleasure. I remember my dad telling me when he was a child, they only went to town once a week and how he looked forward to the weekend so he could get a coke and the store.

I'm the age of the then-little boy foremost in the photo, and remember exactly as no_sweatt has described above...with one change: my dad would get a cold mug of root beer at the drugstore soda fountain. At only a nickel, it was twice the size of their cokes and half the price. To this day I remain alert for the five-cent root beers and three-dollar motorists' cabins of those days.

How are they (two adults and six kids?) going to eat the fish'n'chips without the ice cream melting?
