My great aunt used to can figs which she grew in her backyard in Augusta Georgia. This shot brought back many memories. Thanks.

The trouble with Greene County is that it has no landmarks, like Brasstown Bald. So you can't tell which way you are looking in this picture, or even for certain that you are in Greene County.

Near White Plains, Ga., ca. 1941. (LOC)

Looks more like clapboard/planking than log. Log would show greater depth in the places where some was mising and you wouldn't see that sort of "chunk" out of the board about oh, eight up from the bottom on the left.

It is fascinating to see the Georgia State flag in this photograph. It was often suggested, during the fierce debates in the late 1990's and 2000 about removing the Confederate battle emblem from the Georgia State flag, that to remove the battle emblem was to reject history. This photo is a good reminder of the reality of the situation. (The Confederate battle emblem was added to the Georgia State flag only in 1956; if anything, the current flag, adopted in 2003, is actually closer to the historical flag, based on the Stars and Bars, as seen in this photo, than was the battle emblem flag adopted in 1956.)
