    Considering it was dismantled in 1939 (by DeValera), I certainly never saw it! It was replaced in 1950.

    Archiseek has more info on it and Atkinson: Atkinson was headmaster of the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art, 1918-1937, and first director of the National College of Art.

    Ha ha! Anne Dolan's book "Commemorating the Irish Civil War" has a section on it titled "The elephant on Leinster Lawn", and says some labelled it "the dire apparition of the Griffith-Collins singularity", so I guess it was not universally popular!
