Oooh, another fire ladder! marked on the 25" as a Fire Escape. Trees now obscure this aspect in streetview
  • Niall McAuley said:
A set of fire ladders in Kingstown in the archive, and another in Monkstown

In this Bing bird's eye view, you can see that the long building with a skylight at right is the dead zoo.
  • Niall McAuley said:
Dating detail: swan necked lamp-post at left means after 1901 and tram electrification. No actual light on the lamp-post may mean it is during electrification works.

So much nicer without the railings. Isn't the statue in Australia now?
  • derangedlemur said:
Is it a boer war memorial or is there just a sleepy soldier under it for fun?
  • derangedlemur said:

  • Martin Devlin said:
Bronz Knockers indeed ! we are getting ideas above ones station. We only had Brass Knockers in Dublin, the bronze ones were right clangers.

I'm going to be kicking myself if I can't remember where I've seen this before. The exam hall in Trinity, maybe?
  • derangedlemur said:
Nope. That's some bloke or other.

derangedlemur She must be somewhere. Maybe inside one of the RDS buildings?
  • derangedlemur said:
National Library of Ireland on The Commons Not necessarily. She might have got dropped and broken, except that I'm pretty sure I've seen her somewhere. Apparently not BOI, RHK, the Customs House or Dublin Castle, though, to name but a few.

I wonder did she fetch up on some church or other?
