Merry Christmas! Streetview / photosphere - goo.gl/maps/AzmgN2A2PEC2 The harbour seems to have changed shape since Mr Eblana's day. Flickr is sometimes amazing! In 2009 via Wayne Brown [https://www.flickr.com/photos/waynetbrown/3780971690/]

Yes, at some point the 'harbour' turned into a 'pier' - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000330871 (Lawrence) SAME AS ABOVE catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000326723 (Lawrence) catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000590478 (Poole)

Is it my imagination or are the near harbour wall and the sail boats painted into the picture?

• beachcomber australia said:

UNLESS ... the entire near wall of the harbour (and the sailing boats) seem to have been drawn in or faked on the original Lawrence and reproduced here. What is going on? [Ed. snap @ aidanhodson ]

In 1877 this happened - "A LATE high tide has done considerable damage at Tramore, Ireland. Part of the new pier at Lady's Cove has been swept away, and the new promenade road has been torn up. The sea has swept in over the land and covered large districts." From - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/170435205?searchTerm=t... Does this mean that the photo is after 1877, and Mr French / Lawrence / Eblana was imagining what the rebuilt pier would look like?

Before the rebuild (1896). See www.flickr.com/photos/state-records-nsw/3794327782/ This 1887 (see note) James Barnet building was much better proportioned than what is there now. (imho!)
