Excellent shot once again NLI. As you said they do look relaxed though the future of the prisoner might be rather uncertain. He is a fine looking young man and there is almost a sense of relief in his expression. Patrick the men in uniform are Free State or Pro-treaty soldiers and the young prisoner is a Republican rebel or anti-treaty soldier. Both were probably on the same side some months earlier fighting against the British and now they were killing each other with equal ferocity in their disagreement as to how the war should have ended. The prisoner is one of the lucky ones because as usual in civil wars mercy was not always shown by either side.

This is definitely the Longacre Bldg. , showing 42nd St. in the foreground. Across 42nd street is the Hotel Knickerbocker. In the left background is Broadway and the Times Bldg. Between the Longacre Bldg. and the Fitzgerald Bldg. on Broadway is the entrance to the George M. Cohan Theatre.
