these row shelters were usually two or three room homes. also, there was't any air conditioning nor heating. the stoves oven, if it had one, was used as the heater. this looks like a saturday or sunday afternoon. most are dressed in their sunday best. these labor camps were scattered all the way down to Brownsville. we lived in one in Harlingen.
Children gathering potatoes on a large farm, vicinity of Caribou, Aroostook County, Me. Schools do not open until the potatoes are harvested (LOC)
