"Dago Frank" Cirofici (Cirocici, Carofici, Cirosici) was a petty criminal in New York City convicted of murdering Herman Rosenthal with his fellow assasins Harry Horowitz "Gyp the Blood", Louis Rosenberg (Rosenweig) "Lefty Louis", and "Whitey" Lewis (Frank Seidenshner) at 1 o'clock in the morning on July 16, 1912. Herman Rosenthal had threatened to "squeal" on Lieutenant Charles Becker (NYC Police) concerning his involvement in gambling if Becker didn't remove his "strong arm squad" of police after a raid was made in early April. Herman was in the process of telling his story when Becker hired the four men and developed the plot that led to Herman's execution in front of the Hotel Metropolis on 43rd Street. The four men were executed at Sing Sing in April 13, 1914 with "Dago Frank" being the first to die. Before his death he stated that he was five miles away when the murder as committed. All four men were taken to funeral homes on the East Side after their deaths. Information taken from articles in the Syracuse Herald from 1912-1914.

The guilty verdict in Becker's original trial was overturned by an appeals court in 1913, but a retrial found him guilty again. He was the only policeman in U. S. history to die in the electric chair.
