  This page on Bridie O'Mullane has a portrait (IMO not the same woman) - similar smoky/dreamy framing. Bridie's uniform is a much heavier material and more military look - altogether more professional than todays. Todays uniform is more feminine and perhaps home made? An earlier date maybe?

  This paper from Maynooth is interesting on badges and uniforms, but not actually useful for dating this shot, as the badge is too blurred.

  Could we have finally done it? Could we have finally identified an unidentifiable image? Found an unfindable place? Stumped an unstumpable group? (Not that that would necessarily be a good thing - this is the nervous laughter of someone in unexpected circumstances....)

  It seems to be some bit of industrial heritage. The blocked in windows look original, which would suggest there's some large bit of machinery in there. The building faces south west, so if it were residential, those would be real windows. The various split levels are also inconsistent with residential use. On the other hand, whatever it is, they've gone to a certain amount of trouble to make it look fancy.
