That would be Mrs. Arthur Scott-Burden--she was an heiress and an equestrian champion in the 1910s. She was formerly the Honorable Cynthia Burke Roche, of London (1884-1966); her maternal grandfather was a protegee of Cornelius Vanderbilt. After Scott-Burden (b. 1879) died in a 1921 polo accident, she remarried in 1922, to Guy Fairfax Cary. Mrs. Scott-Burden's brother, Edmund Maurice Burke Roche (1885-1955), was the grandfather of Diana Spencer.

I love how the supplies were run down the dock on rail trucks. There's a delivery horse+buggy for Sozodont, a mouth wash. Wonder how long the members of the expedition were worried about their breath. The links @amphalon provided describe just how treachorous the trip was. They seem to have been a bit fanciful in their choice of supplies. Anyone know why the flag atop the center mast says "DIIN"?

Compare the photo to one taken of the construction of the Battleship New York. The building on the right of both photos is the same. I guess that in this photo, we are looking across at the construction site of the New York? (a year after the New York was completed)

This statue depicts Diana the Huntress - it was a marble statue on a sandstone base installed in Centennial Park in the c1890s. It was possibly sourced by Job Hanson: www.daao.org.au/main/read/3063 The statue was removed from the park by the 1970s.

Rebecca Lockhart was the daughter of Alexander Lockhart, Lord Covington. She married James Hay, 15th Earl of Erroll, son of William Boyd, 4th Earl of Kilmarnock and Lady Anne Livingston, on 15 September 1749.1 She died on 2 May 1761. Her married name became Hay. As a result of her marriage, Rebecca Lockhart was styled as Countess of Erroll on 19 August 1758
