Even creeps looked better then. It is a sad case for our modern world that even the baddies had more style then most people do today.

Possibly - www.dib.ie/biography/dawson-william-richard-a2447 "... During the 1914–18 war, he served in the RAMC, gaining the rank of lieutenant-colonel* (1917), as a specialist in ‘nerve disease’ to the troops in Ireland (1915), subsequently became president (1917) of the Special Medical Board which dealt with psychiatric problems among servicemen, and later assisted in organising the Home of Recovery, Leopardstown Park, Co. Dublin. Demobilised in 1920, he was appointed (1922) neurologist and chief medical officer at the Northern Ireland Ministry of Home Affairs, and retired in 1929. ..." * Lieutenant-colonel insignia is a pip and a crown as seen.

He was an accomplished man. Thom's Irish Who's Who [1923} has a biography including this - Recns.: Mountaineering fishing, photography. Res.: 26 Windsor Park, Belfast. Clubs: Ulster, Belfast; University, Dublin; Swiss Alpine, London and Geneva. See - en.wikisource.org/wiki/Thom%27s_Irish_Who%27s_Who/Dawson,... And his books - en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:William_Richard_Dawson I imagine this photo is between 1917 (when he became a Lt. Colonel) and March 1920 (when he was "demobilised" from the army)
