Was 'Lane Cove Road" the former name for the Pacific Highway? - I recall that Mona Vale Road, was originally Pittwater Road. My grandparents (mother's side) settled in Wahoonga in 1897 or thereabouts.

Got it! My grandparents built a home in Cleveland Street (before the railway line was built) by chance (or perhaps not) my grandmother's name was Ada. My grandfather was one of the engineers who designed and built- among other great conservation projects - the Burrinjuck Dam. My aunt, their first born daughter, used to talk often about catching the train to Milsons Point and then the ferry to the city. (She was at that stage a nurse working at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children). She was the first to awaken my interest in the history of our city and inter-alia its modes of transport.

Hi Jorge - the original glass negative has a black painted mask on the glass to eliminate the background. This turns white when inverted. Expanding the exif information (on the right) gives you the digitisation details. Cheers.
