From Picture Sutherland Shire this photo is dated somewhere between 1930 (see Cronulla Beach South view looking south ca1930) and 1940s. The Ladies Dressing Room (with the pointed tower) was replaced in the 1940s with the current white clubhouse. Deck chairs seem to have been popular in 1910 (surf carnival 1910).

Janette Pelosi Thanks for this info. There is a Trove newspaper article which mentions the new clubhouse being under construction in January 1940 and it was officially opened in November 1940. We can add the date "pre-1940" to this photo. Thanks again! AB

There is a series of postcards at acms.sl.nsw.gov.au/album/albumView.aspx?acmsID=411345&... which are dated c1928, and one in particular shows very close to this scene with the tree growth about 1-2 years behind. So I’ll start with c1930.
