Could this jolly group be connected with the November, 1913, Mayoralty election in New York City, in which the Fusion ticket, led by John Puroy Mitchel, emerged victorious? Might they be members of the "Women's Fusion League for Good Government"?

The Metropolitan Museum has a group of copies of this stereograph www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/288288 They have associated text that confirms that this is looking west along the Embankment towards Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. I think the near bridge is Hungerford Bridge (aka Charing Cross Bridge), the railway bridge that runs to Charing Cross Station. It appears that Monet painted somewhat the same view, although from a lower position. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungerford_Bridge_and_Golden_Jubile... Since 1903 is before aeroplanes, this was presumably taken from a relatively tall building -- not tall by today's standards, of course. One possibility is that it was taken from the Hotel Cecil, which stood where the Shell Mex building now is between the 1890s and 1930. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Cecil_(London)

It is always refreshing to see the kinfolk of Father Abraham, in more restful moments in time. The passage of the generations have melted the memories of these peripheral characters on the Civil War scene, but they are nonetheless part of our cherished history of late 19th century Americana.

LOC has 2 of these and they were taken by a stereo camera - and fortunately the 2 that LOC has were taken by the opposite lens so that they form a matching L /R pair and will create a 3D stereo image. Red / cyan anaglyph posted here: www.flickr.com/photos/110677094@N05/12585245743/ -PT
