First! (I have nothing sensible to say).

Apparently the chancel of St. Macartin's was enlarged in 1889. I can't tell from the photos if that's happened already in the older one though.

St. Michaels:" Largely built between 1870-75 to just above the belfry – the spire was added more recently. The interior is large and gloomy..."

The barn on the right. "more recently", incidentally seems to mean mid '90s, so it's not in the other picture either.

Looks to me like this was taken from my old school, Portora?

Walter was a real gentleman. Yep, that is taken from Portora and there in the lower foreground is the open air swimming pool, scene of manys a freezing cold swimming experience.

National Library of Ireland on The Commons I went to school with his son, David. So I did not really know him that well, just as a really friendly Dad of my friend. I remember seeing some of his photos years ago and would be keen to see more. As far as I recall he was a great man for the slides and had hundreds, if not thousands.
