Walter was a real gentleman. Yep, that is taken from Portora and there in the lower foreground is the open air swimming pool, scene of manys a freezing cold swimming experience.

National Library of Ireland on The Commons I went to school with his son, David. So I did not really know him that well, just as a really friendly Dad of my friend. I remember seeing some of his photos years ago and would be keen to see more. As far as I recall he was a great man for the slides and had hundreds, if not thousands.

Apparently the chancel of St. Macartin's was enlarged in 1889. I can't tell from the photos if that's happened already in the older one though.

The barn on the right. "more recently", incidentally seems to mean mid '90s, so it's not in the other picture either.

It certainly looks like it, and it doesn't appear to be any of the other big houses byside the Boyne or the BlackWater out as far as Trim, Kells or Slane. I'm assuming the slope on the garden means it's beside a river - where else would you put a mansion?
