By 1865 the Cobb and Co transport service had become the official mail deliverer for Queensland. The Cobb and Co service started in Victoria, before expanding to New South Wales and Queensland, and was in operation until 1924, transporting passengers and mail across the state. Terrific photo of Ty Cobb. You can see in this one picture all those things that made him one of a kind -- the athleticism, the attitude, the extraordinary focus and competitive drive and, yes, the meanness and the way he was always alone in a crowd, always with a chip on his shoulder and, in a team sport, without a friend in the world.
