Nellie Grant Cronan (1881-1972), granddaughter of Ulysses S. Grant. Her husband, Captain William Pigott Cronan (1879-1929), was briefly the acting Naval Governor of Guam (in spring 1916). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_P._Cronan Her gravesite: www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=19693738

Thanks for the full name and additional information. We'll update the data to include the full name.

I find most of these women in a list of names in the February 1914 Congressional Directory at books.google.com/books?id=mLw-AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA289&l... "THE CONGRESSIONAL CLUB 1432 K Street Phone Main 7400 Incorporated by act of Congress approved May 30 1908 Membership composed of women in official life President Mrs Duncan U Fletcher Vice presidents Mrs Frank H Briggs Mrs Henry A Cooper Mrs Thomas P Gore Mrs James T Lloyd Mrs Lemuel P Padgett Recording secretary Mrs Horace M Towner Corresponding secretary Mrs John E Raker Treasurer Mrs Fred Dennett" So this is a collection of wives of senators and congressmen, perhaps even a picture of the club's officers. Although the word Ladies does not appear in the directory, the club seem's often to be known as the Ladies Congressional Club of Washington DC

Yes, here's a use of the picture. The Washington times., February 18, 1915, HOME EDITION, Page 6 chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn84026749/1915-02-18/ed-... Congressional Club Playing Important Part in Lives of Official Women in Washington -- Organization, Now Occupying New Home at Sixteenth Street and New Hampshire Avenue, Is Distinct, Having Been Formed Under Special Act of Congress.

The building is still used for the same purpose www.thecongressionalclub.com/ "Founded in 1908, the original purpose of The Congressional Club was to provide a non-partisan setting for friendships among the spouses of members of the House and Senate in Washington, D.C. Although the scope of the Club and the breadth of its activities have increased over the years, its purpose remains the same."

Here's the picture's caption from the link to the Washington Times, above: Front row, (left to right), MRS. HORACE M. TOWNER, recording secretary; MRS. DUNCAN U. FLETCHER, president; MRS. JAMES T.
