If Bain published this photograph ca. 1910-1915, it may have been in relation to the appointment of Bo Sweeney in 1914 as Assistant Secretary of the Interior.

This is a photograph of the former Lillian E. Reeves (1880-1929) who married Bo Sweeney on February 2, 1898. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Reeves of Trinidad, Colorado.[1]

Bo Sweeney (1862-1917) was a native of Missouri, practiced law and was a state representative (D) in Colorado, before moving to Seattle. He served as an assistant Secretary of the Interior with Secretary Lane from 1914 to 1917. Bo died suddenly of a heart attack in Washington in 1917. [2] [3] [4]

Lelia Sinclair Montague Gordon Barnett (1871-1959)--she was a Washington socialite, a widow who married Marine colonel George Barnett (1859-1930), later Commandant of the US Marine Corps. Her daughters here would be Leila and Anne Gordon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Barnett www.arlingtoncemetery.net/gbarnett.htm The younger Lelia (b 1899) married at least three times, to Robert Russell Dickey Jr. (divorced), in 1934 to Newbold Noyes of the publishing family (he died in 1942), and as her third husband the Rev. Albert Hawley Lucas, who died in 1973. She ran the Lelia Noyes Dress Shop on Connecticut Avenue in Washington DC for many years; she died in 1989. These women were all cousins to Wallis Simpson--they're mentioned in her memoirs.

I am Lelia Sinclair Baldassari, great granddaughter of Lelia Sinclair Montague Barnett and granddaughter of Lelia Sinclair Gordon Lucas, who owned the dress shop. I have tried for many years to find photos or any remains of the dress shop, an article of clothing, even a label, which was of my granny's signature. Any ideas?

A search for “Lelia Noyes Dress Shop” did not find any images. You may find the guide "Researching Historic Washington, D.C.
