He arrived in New York, like others in this series of photos, on the liner Rotterdam on December 23, 1915, and had some pithy comments about Wilson and his policy of non-intervention in the war: "With the exception of the Kaiser, outside of Germany, [Wilson is] the most unpopular head of government in the world."
