Photographic postcard of a swimming champion, possibly 'M. Kershaw'

from Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons

  "... Kershaw" ?

• someclevername said:

So far my best guess of the signature on the above postcard is "M. Kershaw". Also of interest I found a very nice postcard with an image Miss Beatrice Kerr (currently for sale) at "http://www.sportspages.com/swimming/ephemera/general/beatrice_kerr_(champion_australian_swimmer)_1911_27546". Here is the description of the postcard: Original postcard. Real photograph of Beatrice Kerr, titled "Champion lady swimmer and diver of Australia." Signed and inscribed "Coo-ee" Yours Sincerely Beatrice Kerr 1911. Postally unused. Inscription and signature in black ink to front. Handwritten annotations in pencil to reverse. In very good condition.

someclevername beachcomber australia Thanks guys! Kershaw looks to be the most likely, deciphering handwriting is half the challenge :)

I'm fairly certain this chap is American boxer Frank Moran, who challenged Johnson for the heavyweight title in Paris in 1914... www.flickr.com/photos/anmm_thecommons/9910359426/
